MAY 2010 At Emerald, we believe in a high level of commitment and maintaining our involvement in uplifting the community. Re-E-Lwele Primary School, which is situated in Hartebeespoort, Gauteng, was selected as the beneficiary to receive eight computers, worktops, printers and other stationery related items to enhance their enthusiasm and appetite for learning. This primary school houses approximately 80 children, mostly from surrounding rural areas, and whose average walk to school each day covers 11 kilometres. Due to a shortage of government funding, there are only two teachers, who between them teach all Grades 1 – 7.
On the 10th March 2010, six Emerald staff, namely Carla Jordan, Tanita Coetsee, Jennifer Friend, Zannie Pienaar, Terence Fitzpatrick and Mark Mowlam, were lucky enough to experience the joy of giving by going to the school personally. The computers and printers were installed, quality time was spent with the children over lunch, and the day ended with distributing some sweet treats for the children. Our hope is that they will reap an amazing harvest from the investment and that the children will benefit from the opportunity to learn new skills for their future! |
